As a self-taught artist, Sam had gone from doodling from an early age, to joining art classes at school, to 3 years of dedicated full-time practice. Although art had always been more of a casual hobby, a curiosity and obsession had driven Sam to the constant desire to improve her art. Summed up in the phrase ‘practice makes perfect’, this completely encapsulates Sam’s journey as she describes the huge change in style from that of even a year ago.
While she doesn’t intentionally aim to create a specific style across both watercolour and oil paintings, Sam’s use of colour, light and technique carry through both mediums. Her paintings are built up from several images of a chosen topic to create a ‘Frankenstein’ composition that lays out a totally unique setting. Sam’s popularity came through social media, with her unique artwork resonating with artists to build a strong community off of a series of viral videos. A recent collaboration with Happy Egg Co USA stands as a testament to her expanding recognition as a high quality painter.
