“Pro Arte brushes handle incredibly well, holding the paint really nicely whether you’re applying it thickly or thinly. Long handle oil brushes are perfect for my painting method as I like to hold the brush at the end of the handle to keep some looseness in the application of paint. The synthetic bristles hold their shape perfectly without being too stiff, moving easily with whatever effect I’m trying to achieve. I’ve used Pro Arte’s oil brushes for as long as I can remember, mostly using long flats, size 0 to about 6, because I like to be quite blocky with my paint and the long rectangular shape and sharp corners help me to apply it in everything from solid ’slabs’ or fine lines and edges, whilst bending and flowing with ease.
For the smaller details in my paintings, I’ve found finer rounds and riggers to be perfect for achieving the long-flowing brushstrokes or dabs of highlight that I might need. I never like to go too fine and even the tiny details on my paintings are usually applied fairly thickly -and these ranges always seem to be able to hold a decent amount of paint to help me achieve this.
From a longevity point of view, the brushes always last a long time (as long as you look after them) and I find that I can use the same brush for several paintings.”
